Caesar III is a RTS game that places the control of a Roman city in your hands. You must build a thriving city using money that Caesar gives you. If you waste his money, or disobey him, he will get angry and possibly send his someone else to do the job, making you lose. The graphics in Caesar III are not quite cutting edge, but they certainly are easy to make out and are quite good. The animation is great. The sound is excellent. Great music and great sound effects. It is fun because you have to be working all the time and there are lots of things to work for. The lasting appeal is good because it is a hard game and there are lots of levels. Basically what you do in Caesar is just build a city much like you would on any of the SimCities, using aquaducts, farms, homes, entertainment, etc. instead. Then you must keep the people happy, fed, clean, entertained, and must make sure they have homes and a temple to worship in. That is really the only draw-back, there are all the Roman gods to please too. If you don't have the same amount of churches for each god, the god with less attention will get angry and attach your city with supernatural powers. This is the dumb part of the game. As long as you give 'em each a temple they should stay happy for a while. It is really realistic to the real Roman cities because there are all the buildings like they had then, and everyone is dressed in the Roman clothing. Though this doesn't play a huge part in the game, you must also build a military fortress and occasionally fight some attackers. You may have all kinds of soldiers and elephants to attack with or defend with. This game adds all the aspects of Roman life into one $30 package. If you are a Roman history buff this is an apsolute must buy. If you are a strategy fan, you should definetly check this game out. If you aren't either of the above, still download the demo because this is a great game.
