C&C Tiberian Sun
By: Westwood
My ratings:
Graphics-7.5
Sound-8.5
Fun Factor-9.0
Lasting Appeal-8.75
Overall (weighted average)-8.4
Genre: Real Time Strategy/War
I'll start by saying that this game was a disappointment. It is undoubtedly cool and fun and worthy of the Command and Conquer name, but not as good as it could have been. We have waited about four years for this game, and it is not a whole lot better than Red Alert. The graphics are definetly better than Red Alert, but not anything special when compared to Star Craft, which has been out for quite a while. The maps are really cool and the animation is better than Star Craft. However, the people are a boring 2-D blob like on Red Alert, but the vehicles are nice 3-D machines. The people look terrible by comparison to the vehicles. The vehicles move a lot slower than they do on Red Alert, too. But I don't want to get the idea across that this is a bad game. Not at all. It has the same fun and lasting appeal that the other C&Cs have, and the sound is good too. My main problem with it is that it really could have been a lot better, especially after the wait that Westwood put us through. If you absolutely adore the C&C theme, or if you are a huge strategy fan who wants to have all the latest and greatest strategy games, I would recommend you look into this game. However, if you aren't either of the above, but you want to get one good strategy game, I would personnally recommend that you wait for Red Alert 2 to come out and consider spending the $50 on it instead or get Age or Empires 2. I think you will like them a lot better.
Pros:
Same fun, addicting gameplay that the other C&Cs
have
Greatly improved graphics over the other C&Cs
Cool added features
Cons:
Not worth the wait or the $50
People are 2-D while all other buildings and vehicles are 3-D
Objectionable Content:
Lots of killing and fighting
When people die, they scream, fall over, and later disappear
